Sunn Hemp Paper

This is a traditional paper made by the Muslim Kagzi community in North India. This kind of paper was made by the Kagzi before and during the Moghul period. The paper is made from hemp fibre and formed on a chapri, a screen of grass stems, which gives this paper its characteristic laid pattern. The paper is sized on the surface with wheat starch.
